in English:

“We are a marginal nation and we stay marginal, in iterature, or in culture in general, in Paris, or elsewhere in the world. It’s the destiny of small nations, or, more precisely, small languages. That’s it. We are « exotic », and are interesting only as such.

Everything that is happening here in culture, in literature, in politics, all of that is my world, or at least, a part of my world and my culture. I know all the names of the world of culture in France. I live with them, I talk to them and they talk to me. However, they do not live with me. They don’t know anything about my culture, or its frequently discussed topics. . Their topics are mine, too, but my topics are never theirs.”
